Why rent a villa in Makarska?
Makarska is where the mountains meet the sea without any transition. Biokovo, Croatia’s second-highest mountain, rises almost directly from the water, and the riviera below stretches about 60 km from Brela to Gradac. The beaches here are the ones you see on Croatian postcards: white pebbles, pine trees, and water so clear it hardly looks real. The town has a 2 km beach, a lively promenade, Kačić Square, Kalalarga Street for evening strolls, and a morning market that’s worth an early visit.
Where are the villas located?
You have two main areas to choose from.
Along the coast, our villas are located in Makarska town and Baška Voda. Makarska offers the most restaurants and nightlife on the Riviera. Baška Voda is quieter, with a long pebble beach and a family-friendly atmosphere. In both places, you’ll be within walking distance of the beach and paying a bit more for the location.
Most of our villas offer features like heated pools, wellness areas, gyms, and game rooms. You might need a car, as most of our properties are situated above the sea with amazing sea views.
Which beaches are near the villas?
This is pebble beach country. If you miss sand, remember the pebbles are what make the water here so incredibly clear.
Punta Rata in Brela is the most famous beach, with pine trees and white stones, and often appears on lists of Europe’s best beaches. Makarska’s town beach stretches for 2 km under pine trees. Nugal, just south of town, is a scenic naturist cove you can reach on foot through the Osejava forest park. Baška Voda, Promajna, and Tučepi all have long, well-kept beaches with bars and water sports. Swimmers and snorkelers love this coastline. If you really want sand, you’ll find it about 30 minutes north in Duće and Omiš. And if you want the sea right in front of your terrace, check out our beachfront villas.
What can you do from your villa?
Start with Biokovo. A road leads from the coast up into the Nature Park and to the Skywalk, a glass platform at 1,228 meters with views of the whole Riviera and the islands of Brač and Hvar. It’s not for everyone if you’re afraid of heights. Trails continue up to Sveti Jure at 1,762 meters if you want to reach the summit.
On the coast, you can take boat trips from Makarska harbor, cycle to Brela 15 km away, or catch the car ferry from Drvenik to Sućuraj on Hvar, making an island visit easy. Omiš and its Cetina River rafting are 35 km north, and Split is about an hour away.
How much does a villa in Makarska cost?
Prices start at €136 per night, and the final cost depends mainly on the time of year. July and August are the most expensive months, while May, June, September, and October are 20 to 40 percent cheaper for the same villa.
It’s best to look at the price per person. Most villas sleep 8 to 12 people, so even the higher-priced options are often cheaper than booking several hotel rooms on the Riviera. You can find current discounts on our special offer villas page.
When is the best time to visit Makarska?
August is the busiest month on the Dalmatian promenade, which can be a plus or a minus depending on your preference. Most villa guests prefer the shoulder months: May, June, and September offer warm weather, swimmable sea, and lower prices. These months are also the best time to hike Biokovo, as it’s not too hot.
How do you book, and how do you get there?
Choose your dates and number of guests, compare options, and book. All villas in this collection offer instant confirmation. You pay a deposit up front and the balance on arrival, using a card, bank transfer, or Apple and Google Pay.
Split Airport is the main entry point, about 90 km from Makarska town, so plan for a 75- to 90-minute drive.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Makarska Riviera is known for its beautiful pebble beaches, among the best in Croatia. Punta Rata in Brela is often listed among Europe’s top beaches, and Makarska’s main beach runs for 2 km beneath pine trees. The water is very clear thanks to the pebbles. If you prefer sandy beaches, you can visit Duće and Omiš, which are about 30 minutes north.
Yes, almost every villa here comes with a private pool. If you plan to visit in spring or autumn, it’s smart to look for a heated pool. Use the Private Pool, Heated Pool, and Jacuzzi filters above to find the right villa.
Yes, we recommend having a car for any villa in this collection. You can walk to the beach from coastal villas, but having a car makes it easy to explore Biokovo Nature Park, the Imotski lakes, and the rest of the Riviera.
The Biokovo Skywalk is a glass platform 1,228 meters above the Riviera and is a must-see. Other activities include boat trips from Makarska harbor, taking the Drvenik ferry to Hvar, cycling to Brela, or rafting on the Cetina River near Omiš, about 35 km north.
July and August have the warmest sea and the highest prices. In May, June, and September, the weather is still warm, the water is good for swimming, and prices are 20 to 40 percent lower. These months are also great for hiking on Biokovo. Check our special offer villas page for current discounts.
Split Airport is about 90 km from Makarska town, and the drive takes around 75 to 90 minutes by car, either along the coast or on the A1 motorway. You can rent a car at the airport or book a private transfer through FerieHome. Renting a car is the easiest way to explore the area during your stay.
