About Island Villas Croatia
We offer 6 verified holiday villas on the islands near Split, starting at €143 a night. Each has 3-5 bedrooms and sleeps up to 11 guests. We keep the list short because quality island properties are rare, and we prefer to show only the best. Every villa is inspected in person. Book online with instant confirmation, and we guarantee the best price with no booking fees. In this guide, you'll find details about the villa locations, what island life is really like, and the ferry logistics that often get overlooked.
Why rent a villa on a Croatian island?
Around 8 p.m., the last day-trip boats leave for Split, the beaches clear out, and the island finally relaxes. If you’ve only visited Brač or Šolta for a few hours, you’ve seen the busy side and missed what makes them special. Staying overnight in your own villa with a pool lets you enjoy the peaceful mornings and evenings that show the islands at their best.
Brač and Šolta, the islands in this collection, are both less than an hour by ferry from Split, which is more important than it might seem. Long travel times can ruin an island holiday, but not here. After landing at Split Airport, you can drive onto a ferry and be opening the shutters of your stone villa before dinner. These islands feel remote enough for a true getaway, but close enough that the trip home never feels like a chore.
Where are the villas located?
Four villas are on Brač and two on Šolta, and each island has its own unique character.
Brač is the largest island and is known for its white stone. Supetar is the main ferry port and busiest town, with a promenade, restaurants, and seasonal boats to Split. Nerežišća, home to two of our villas, is a quiet former capital in the island’s center, with stone lanes, peaceful streets, and Vidova Gora rising behind it. Dol, near Postira on the north coast, is a small village of old stone houses in a green valley that most visitors miss. Locals say they used stone from Brač to build Diocletian's Palace in Split.
Šolta is smaller, and we suggest it for anyone looking for a truly quiet escape. It’s just across from Split, about an hour by ferry to Rogač, and has stayed surprisingly untouched by tourism, even though you can see it from the Riva. Grohote, the largest village, is a maze of stone alleys where you’ll find another villa. Nečujam is the island’s biggest bay and is home to another villa, just a short walk from the sea. Life on Šolta revolves around olive oil, honey from native black bees, and fishing. That’s both the island's economy and its feel.
If you want the feel of an island but don’t want to take a ferry, Čiovo is linked to Trogir by a bridge. We also have several secluded mainland villas that offer the same peaceful atmosphere.
Which beaches are near the villas?
Let’s start with Zlatni Rat, the beach that makes Brač famous worldwide. This well-known pebble spit at Bol changes shape with the wind and current, and it’s about a 35- to 40-minute drive from our Brač villas, passing over Vidova Gora with views worth stopping for. Visit early in the day or around six in the evening; midday in August is best left to the day-trippers.
The everyday beaches here are better than you might expect. Around Supetar and Postira, the north coast of Brač is lined with pebble coves shaded by pine trees. Lovrečina, between Postira and Pučišća, is one of the island’s few sandy bays and is a great spot for families. On Šolta, Nečujam Bay offers easy swimming just minutes from the villa, and the coves near Maslinica and Stomorska stay peaceful even during the busiest season. This coastline isn’t built up, so you’ll often have a cove all to yourself. Something that’s almost impossible on the mainland Riviera in August.
What can you do from your villa?
On Brač, drive up Vidova Gora, the highest peak on any Adriatic island at 778 meters, for views of Zlatni Rat and Hvar. Visit Pučišća, home to one of Europe’s last stonemasonry schools, in a harbor so beautiful it feels almost unreal. You can also walk down to the Blaca hermitage, a monastery monks built into a cliff to protect their privacy, or explore Škrip, the island's oldest settlement.
Šolta is all about taking it easy. Swim, stroll between villages, try award-winning olive oil, watch the sunset at Maslinica, and enjoy fish caught that same morning. Day trips are easy from both islands: take a ferry to Split to visit Diocletian’s Palace, catch a catamaran to Hvar in season, or explore more of the Split region with just one ferry ride.
How much does an island villa in Croatia cost?
Prices range from €143 to about €429 a night, which often surprises people who expect island stays to cost more. Šolta and inland Brač offer the best value, while seafront spots in Supetar cost a bit more. Prices peak in July and August, then drop 20 to 40 percent in May, June, September, and October. Don’t forget the ferry: car ferries from Split cost about €30 to €50 each way for a car and passengers, depending on the company and season. Since the villas sleep 6 to 11 people, the per-person cost stays reasonable. Check our special offer villas page for the latest discounts.
When is the best time for an island villa holiday?
June and September are the best months, hands down. The sea is warm, ferries aren’t crowded, restaurants have plenty of tables, and the islands feel authentic. July and August are also lovely, but expect lines for the car ferry and crowds at Zlatni Rat, so book your villa and plan ferry times early. May and October are perfect if you want the islands almost to yourself, but check which Šolta restaurants are still open, as the smaller island quiets down at the start and end of the season.
How do you book, and how do you get there?
Choose your dates, number of guests, compare options, and book. All six villas offer instant confirmation. You pay a deposit when you book, then pay the rest on arrival by card, bank transfer, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
Here’s how to get there: fly to Split Airport, then take the car ferry from Split harbor - about 50 minutes to Supetar on Brač or an hour to Rogač on Šolta. It’s best to bring a car. You can rent one at the airport, and in July and August, arrive at the ferry port early because cars board in the order they arrive and popular sailings fill up fast. Both islands have taxis and some buses, but since the villas are in villages and coves, having a car gives you the most freedom.

Frequently Asked Questions
Choose Brač if you want an island with plenty to do, like visiting Zlatni Rat, hiking Vidova Gora, or exploring towns with restaurants and a promenade. There’s also an hourly ferry to Split during the season. Choose Šolta if you want to truly unwind, as it’s quieter than most places on the coast and takes pride in it. Families with teenagers often prefer Brač, while couples usually prefer Šolta. Both islands are less than an hour by ferry from Split, so you’ll never feel isolated.
Fly into Split, drive to the harbor, and take the car ferry. It's about 50 minutes to Supetar on Brač and about an hour to Rogač on Šolta. Bring your car, since the villas are in villages and coves, and taxis won’t get you everywhere you want to go. Helpful tip: in July and August, car ferries board by line, so arrive early for your chosen departure, especially on summer weekends.
Zlatni Rat is about 35 to 40 minutes by car from our Brač villas, along a scenic road over Vidova Gora. Based on our experience, it’s best to visit before nine in the morning or after five in the afternoon. At midday in peak season, the beach gets crowded with day-trip boats, but by seven in the evening, when they’ve left, it's much quieter and more enjoyable.
Yes, all of them, and on an island that matters more than on the mainland, because beach days depend on ferry-free spontaneity and the pool covers every hour in between. Several houses add jacuzzis or covered terraces for the hottest afternoons. Use the Private Pool and Jacuzzi filters above to compare.
Yes, with an island rhythm. Supetar on Brač has full-size supermarkets, pharmacies, and a long strip of restaurants. The villages of Nerežišća, Dol, and Grohote run on small grocers, bakeries, and family konobas, which is part of the charm and occasionally part of the plan. On Šolta especially, stock up in Split or at Rogač on arrival, and note that outside high season, some restaurants keep short hours.
Yes, day trips from these islands are easy. Split is just a direct ferry ride away, so you can visit Diocletian's Palace whenever you like. During the season, catamarans connect Brač with Hvar, and excursion boats from both islands visit the nearby archipelago. You get the best of both worlds: an island base with easy access to mainland attractions. Check our Split pages to see what’s available.
June and September, clearly. Warm sea, easy ferries, open restaurants, no queues. July and August are the full-volume months, wonderful evenings but busy crossings and a crowded Zlatni Rat. May and October reward those who want near-private islands and don't mind a quieter dining scene. Rates outside peak run 20 to 40 percent lower, and our special offer villas page has current deals.
