SKYWALK BIOKVO-MAKARSKA

30.04.2024.

Keep up with me for a moment while I tell you about a unique attraction in Croatia that has never been seen before. It is ideal for unwinding on a beautiful summer day with stunning views!

ABOUT SKYWALK BIOKOVO:

The Skywalk Biokovo is a horseshoe-shaped glass platform off the cliff with a glass walkway. It is located in the southern part of the Biokovo Nature Park, on the 13th kilometer of the Biokovo road, near to the information center. At an altitude of 1228 meters above sea level, it provides breathtaking views of the ocean, sky, and Makarska. A geological pillar in front of the info-center shows a three-dimensional cross-section of the rocks that created the Biokovo area from its inception to the present day, complete with a geological timetable and descriptions of the age and types of rocks. The platform can accommodate 30 visitors at a time. The staff communicate with one another and inform you if you can proceed to the platform (from the Info-center) or whether you must wait.

HOW OT GET TO SKYWLAK:

The main road entrance into the park is close to the center of the Markarska Riviera, the city of Makarska, and you can reach it by car or bus. If you are flying you can fly to the Airports Split (closest) and Dubrovnik. From the park’s reception entrance to the highest peak of Biokovo – Sv. Jure - one travels along the Biokovo Road, which is the highest road in the Republic of Croatia. It is 23 km long, and since there is only one lane, with passing places (lay-bys) at about every 300 meters, and since it is a distinctly mountainous road, specific conditions of driving obtain, and drivers can drive on it exclusively on their responsibility.

ABOUT MAKARSKA:

The town is separated from the interior by the mountain Biokovo and connected to the central Dalmatian islands of Brač and Hvar by the Adriatic Sea, which features some of the most beautiful Croatian beaches in the Makarska Riviera. Makarska is located at the crossroads between road and sea routes, that’s what makes the town perfect for organized day trips. From Makarska, there is a regular excursion line to the islands of Brac, Hvar, and Korcula.
There are also many organized day trips to the bigger cities nearby like Split (1-hour drive) or the famous town Dubrovnik (2,2 hours). For everyone who is looking for more action, there are organized full-day trips to the Cetina River (Omiš town - 40min drive) where you can experience the beautiful nature of the Cetina River canyon while experiencing a nice rafting. The river adventure starts on the banks of the Cetina River in the Biokovo Mountain region. If you prefer mountain areas there is a park of nature Biokovo just above Makarska so this can be your day tour because the view from this mountain is awesome, you can see a lot of islands and the coast is just beautiful, so visiting mountain Biokovo provides a unique experience.
